Savannah in September: A Month of Music, Baseball & Beachside Fun

Savannah in September: A Month of Music, Baseball & Beachside Fun

Events - Savannah Chamber

September in Savannah is a season all its own: the crowds thin out, the evenings soften, and the calendar fills up with the kind of events that make this city feel like a small town with a big personality. From orchestra nights under the historic Lucas Theatre chandeliers to fireworks over the Tybee pier, here's what's happening around Savannah this month.

Live Music & Performing Arts

Savannah Bananas Baseball

Friday, September 11 – Sunday, September 13 | Historic Grayson Stadium

Banana Ball returns home for a weekend series against the Party Animals. Expect the fast-paced, highly theatrical version of baseball Savannah's team has become famous for, choreographed dance numbers, unpredictable rules, and nonstop fan entertainment. Friday and Saturday games start at 7:00 PM, with a 1:00 PM game on Sunday.

Savannah Jazz Festival

Friday, September 18 – Sunday, September 20 | Forsyth Park

This admission-free outdoor gathering is one of Savannah's longest-running music traditions, bringing regional and national jazz performers together beneath Forsyth Park's shaded canopy for a weekend of laid-back listening.

Savannah Philharmonic: Holst's "The Planets"

Saturday, September 19 | 7:30 PM | Lucas Theatre for the Arts

The Philharmonic opens its season with a powerful program pairing Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite with Holst's iconic orchestral suite, performed with full chorus inside the beautifully restored Lucas Theatre.

Mamma Mia! Opening Night

Wednesday, September 23 | Historic Savannah Theatre

Savannah Theatre's most popular production returns for a seven-week run beginning with opening night. Told through the music of ABBA, it's a funny, feel-good story of love and identity that's become a local favorite.

Villain Arts Tattoo Festival

Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27 | Savannah Convention Center

Hundreds of tattoo artists, including names recognized from TV, descend on Savannah for a weekend of live tattooing, sideshow entertainment, and vendors selling everything from art prints to handmade jewelry. Open Friday 2–11 PM, Saturday 11 AM–11 PM, and Sunday 11 AM–8 PM.

Community & Wellness

Pilates & Pints

Thursday, September 10 | 535 E 39th St

An energizing outdoor mat workout on the patio, followed by a well-earned ice-cold craft pint. A great way to sweat, stretch, and connect with neighbors before the weekend.

Forsyth Farmers' Market

Saturdays, September 5, 12, 19 & 26 | 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM | Forsyth Park

A Savannah staple for fresh, locally grown produce and prepared foods from more than 70 area farmers and food producers, a great weekly reason to start the day in the park.

Mid-Autumn Festival Family Day

Sunday, September 13 | Davenport House Museum

This free, family-friendly celebration honors the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Davenport House's own history with Savannah's early Chinese-American community, presented in partnership with the Savannah Chinese Association. The day includes the opening of a photography exhibition, "Charming Savannah Seen Through Chinese Eyes."

Beachside Celebrations

Labor Day Beach Bash

Sunday, September 6 | 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion

Tybee's annual send-off to summer features a free beachfront concert followed by a fireworks show over the pier, the perfect way to close out the season by the water.

A Month Worth Sticking Around For

Between the music, the ballgames, and the fireworks, September has a way of reminding both locals and newcomers why Savannah's pace of life is so hard to leave behind.
